RCSO Narcotics Division receives FBI Award

Sheriff Pirtle and FBI Director Robert Mueller III

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office received an award from the FBI, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Office to present the narcotics division a letter of accommodation that was signed by FBI Director, Robert Mueller,III.  This is the first accommodation awarded to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office by FBI Director Mueller.

The award was presented to Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle, and Rusk County Sheriff’s Office on behalf of the narcotics division.  This award was due to the major disruption of drugs, guns and human smuggling located in the East Texas Area.  According to the FBI, the major disruption was due to a two year investigation where significant links to a major cartel was discovered.  The results of the investigation led to the elimination of a major hub for the distribution of methamphetamines locally, as well as, statewide.  Rusk County Narcotic Investigators were a significant influence in the outcome of the investigation.

In a closed door ceremony, Supervisory Special Agent, Brent Chambers, of the FBI Dallas Division Resident Agency, of Tyler, presented awards to the Narcotics Unit and  Sheriff Pirtle accepted awards on behalf of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office has a great working relationship with the FBI HIDTA Agency of Tyler.  Other entities the Sheriff’s Office works as a team with is the Department of Public Safety, Local City Municipalities to include Henderson, Kilgore, Overton, New London, Tatum, as well as other surrounding counties.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated it’s important to keep a good working relationship with other agencies to assist in the capture and arrests of those who choose to violate the law.  I’m very proud of our Narcotics Division and the diligent work they displayed in this particular investigation.  We appreciate the FBI recognizing these Officers for a job well done.
