Patrol Division Lieutenant

Lieutenant Kevin Roy was born and raised in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school. After eight years of honorable military service Lieutenant Roy discharged and pursued civilian life until entering the Kilgore Police Academy in January, 2003. Upon graduating the Police Academy Lieutenant Roy began his Law Enforcement career as a Jailer, in the Rusk County Jail Division. Upon promoting to the Patrol Division, as a Patrol Deputy, he was eventually promoted to Patrol Sergeant.
In January, 2009, Lieutenant Roy was promoted to a Criminal Investigator for the Criminal Investigation Division where he was assigned to property crimes. In February, 2011, he was promoted to his current position, Patrol Lieutenant, where he supervises Patrol Deputies, Patrol Reserves and Courthouse Bailiffs’. In addition to his assigned duties, Lieutenant Roy is a member of the Rusk County Mounted Patrol Unit and serves as the Commander of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Unit, overseeing all training and operations of the unit. Lieutenant Roy is the Instructor for the Sheriff’s Department for Chemical Agent, Firearms and Taser training.
Kevin, and his wife, Jane, have two children, and five grandchildren. They are members of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Henderson.
